Search Knives Availability Available Sold. Price Range. The Forest Knife by American Knife Company seemed like a similar enough knife if one did not want to wait multiple years. Plus, magnets are cool. That is a legit question and I will try to answer it: Provenance, purpose, quality, and because why not?

Mors was the first "bushcraft" teacher I came across when I first began to research the topic. His book Bushcraft and his musings on knives had always called to me being a knife guy since I was a child. For some people owning the next best thing or a copy is not good enough. I wanted to own the knife that Mors would swear by, made by a man who developed the knife with Mors input and I made that happen. To me waiting 6 or 10 years was worth it but I also own many, many knives and use them all.

Now I not only have a beautiful knife and an heirloom but also own a piece of history, IMO. That is something that cannot be cloned or copied. The sheath is also just as well and finely executed as the knife.

What does it mean to you is where I'm going with this I guess. From your post I would assume it means nothing to you and the knife you bought was good enough and that is legit. That looks like a fine knife to me. It is not a clone or copy as it is lacking the features of a Skookum but I imagine it will do nearly every task your require without fail. If I needed a knife I would not have accepted that wait.

But in the end the wait cost me nothing, there is no down payment involved, and I actually forgot I ordered it for a year or so only to be reminded by this forum So in the end what does one have to loose? Oh and that Trail Master looks nice, I have never heard of the maker before and I will have to check them out.

Awesome thank you! Also linen Micarta in red. The canvas leaves a slightly better texture than the linen, at least to my hand but all can be sanded with medium grit paper periodically to bring back some texture. The knife can be made with either one or two lanyard holes. I have offered three holers in the past but in my opinion the middle hole doesn't add much application.

Plus a third bolt in its place will add more durability to the handle. So no more three hole pattern handles, and since I make the knives I decide what goes!! Mors Kochanski has also suggested drilling a shearing hole near the tip of the blade where you insert a nail or pin to act as a pivot point. When set up properly the knife is used in a shearing action similar to a flat bed paper cutter for cutting up multiples of whatever one might need such as a bunch of toggles for buttons, tarp tie downs etc.

The sheath is made of heavy cow hide and formed into a Scandinavian style sheath that can be used either as a neck sheath or attached to a belt right or left side. The sheath is dyed and then dipped into melted bees wax making the leather stiff and more water resistant.

This photo shows the handle colors on a few early testers and sheath construction. Knife Specifications : knife length 8.
